- General Provisions
1.1 By placing an order with Absolute Reg, you confirm that you agree to these Terms and Conditions.
1.2 These Terms and Conditions supersede and take precedence over any other information provided verbally, in writing, or displayed online.
1.3 Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law.
1.4 The right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 may not apply to personalised goods or services such as private registrations. By placing an order, you expressly request that Absolute Reg begins processing your order immediately and acknowledge that your right to cancel may be lost once the service has commenced. Where services have begun at your request, you agree that Absolute Reg may continue processing and securing the registration mark in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
1.5 Absolute Reg is a recognised DVLA registered reseller of number plates. References to ‘DVLA’, ‘DVLA number plates’, and ‘DVLA Personalised Registrations’ are used solely to describe the goods and services provided by Absolute Reg. ‘DVLA’ is a registered trademark of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency. Absolute Reg is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the DVLA.
1.6 Absolute Reg acts as a broker and intermediary in relation to certain registrations offered for sale. Registrations may be supplied from Absolute Reg stock, third-party sellers, or the DVLA. Where Absolute Reg acts as an intermediary, it does not act as the legal owner of the registration mark and completion of the transaction remains subject to the cooperation and performance of the underlying registration holder or issuing authority.
1.7 Absolute Reg shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, incidental, or special losses arising from or in connection with the listing, availability, purchase, or transfer of a registration mark. This includes, but is not limited to, loss of opportunity, loss of profit, legal costs, emotional distress, sentimental value, or losses arising from decisions made by the purchaser or third parties.
1.8 Nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any rights which cannot be excluded under applicable consumer protection laws.
2. Registration Mark Restrictions and Display
2.1 It is the buyer’s responsibility to ensure that the selected registration does not make a vehicle appear newer than its actual registered age.
2.2 Registration plates must comply with the Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001.
2.3 Registrations can only be assigned to vehicles registered in mainland Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
2.4 The DVLA does not permit transfers to agricultural or non-testable vehicles.
2.5 The DVLA does not permit transfers to Q plate registered vehicles.
3. Registration Transfers and Documentation
3.1 Absolute Reg guarantees to complete the registration transfer within 7 days of receiving the correct V5C document.
3.2 If the DVLA requires physical documentation, this guarantee is voided. Absolute Reg is not liable for delays resulting from outdated or incorrect V5C documents.
3.3 Transfers are typically completed within 7 days but may take up to 120 days. If not completed within this time, the customer may request a full refund to the original payment method.
3.4 Delays or Losses caused by third parties (e.g. DVLA, postal service, sellers) relieve Absolute Reg of all liability.
3.5 If Absolute Reg is completing a transfer to your vehicle, it is the customer’s responsibility to complete any retention of the vehicle’s existing registration before supplying the V5C to Absolute Reg. Absolute Reg will not be liable if a new registration is assigned over an existing registration that was not retained by the customer prior to submitting the V5C.
3.6 For registrations sold on behalf of a private seller, we may require a V5C to complete the transfer within 21 days. If a V5C cannot be provided within the timeframe, a stock vehicle transfer service will be required. This would incur an additional cost of £50 + VAT + £80 (DVLA Transfer Fee), which can take 2–3 weeks to be completed.
3.7 All registration assignments, transfers, and retentions are subject to approval by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA). The DVLA retains sole discretion in determining eligibility and approval of registration transactions. Absolute Reg has no authority to override or influence DVLA decisions and shall not be liable where a registration cannot be assigned or transferred due to DVLA rules, policies, or discretionary determinations.

4.5 Absolute Reg is not liable for items lost in transit unless notified within the 30-day period. Claims made within this time will be investigated, and items may be resent. 5. Refunds, Exchanges, and Surrenders
5.1 Refunds may take up to 14 working days to clear. Absolute Reg is not liable for banking delays.

5.3 If a customer chooses not to assign a purchased registration after selecting the managed transfer service, no refund will be issued.
5.4 If a registration is surrendered to the DVLA prior to assignment, this must be completed through Absolute Reg. An administration fee of £65 + VAT will be charged and may be deducted from the DVLA refund.
5.5 If a V778 or V750 is not assigned or renewed before its expiry date, ownership will be lost. If recoverable, a £155 admin fee plus DVLA fee will apply. No guarantee of recovery is given.
5.6 Certificate expiry dates may vary depending on the specific V750 Certificate of Entitlement or V778 Retention Certificate issued by the DVLA. Absolute Reg confirms that, at the time of purchase, any registration will have a minimum of 28 days remaining before the certificate expiry date. The customer is responsible for verifying the expiry date of any V750 or V778 certificate associated with their registration and ensuring that the registration is assigned or that the certificate is extended with the DVLA prior to the expiry date. If the certificate is not assigned or extended before expiry, the right to assign the registration mark may be lost.
5.7 Absolute Reg does not monitor certificate expiry dates and is under no obligation to issue reminders regarding renewal or extension of V750 or V778 certificates. From time to time Absolute Reg may issue courtesy notifications regarding upcoming expiry dates; however, failure to send or receive such communication shall not create any liability or responsibility on the part of Absolute Reg. It remains the sole responsibility of the customer to ensure that any certificate is assigned or extended within the required timeframe.
5.8 Once Absolute Reg has commenced sourcing, securing, or processing a registration mark on behalf of the customer, the service shall be deemed to have begun and the order may not be cancelled or refunded except where expressly stated in these Terms.
5.9 Where Absolute Reg holds registration documents or certificates on behalf of a customer, this does not constitute a responsibility to monitor, remind, renew, or extend the certificate prior to its expiry. If a customer requires confirmation of a certificate expiry date, this must be specifically requested from Absolute Reg. However, the responsibility for verifying the expiry date and ensuring that the certificate is extended prior to expiry remains solely with the customer..
5.10 Where Absolute Reg holds registration documents or certificates on behalf of a customer, this does not constitute a responsibility to monitor, remind, renew, or extend the certificate prior to its expiry. 6.2 Absolute Reg reserves the right not to honour registrations listed in error, including but not limited to pricing errors, system errors, or listings made unavailable prior to fulfilment.
6.3 Payment and order confirmation do not constitute acceptance of the order or confirmation of availability.
6.4 Pre-ordering a registration does not guarantee successful acquisition. If unsuccessful, Absolute Reg will offer an alternative or a full refund.
6.5 A binding contract for the supply of a registration mark is formed only once Absolute Reg confirms successful allocation by delivery of registration documents or transfer of the registration.
