How to know if the registration I want is suitable for my vehicle
A registration mark cannot be assigned to a vehicle if this makes the vehicle look newer than the actual vehicle age. It is the responsibility of the buyer to understand this condition before purchasing online and over the phone with an advisor.

Once your number plate is sold, you will be paid via a BACS Transfer, usually within 3 working days of the sale.

Number plate formats
As the old saying goes, Variety is the Spice of Life
And that also goes for number plates!
At Absolute Reg, we offer all types of number plate styles such as:
Current / New Style
Current registration plates, also referred to “new style registrations”, were introduced in September 2001. These number plates identify the year of issuance with a number. For example, 01 = Mar 2001, the first month of issuance.
Prefix Style
Prefix number plates were launched in 1983, and contain a letter at the beginning of the registration to indicate the year in which the vehicle was registered. For example, A = August 1983, the first month of issuance.
Suffix Style
Suffix number plates were introduced in 1963, and contain three letters and three numbers. The last letter indicates the year in which the vehicle was registered, for example, A = August 1963.
Dateless
Dateless number plates can be used on any vehicle regardless of age. Often a prized collectors item owing to its rarity, a dateless reg plate contains a combination of 1, 2 or 3 numbers/letters. For example, A1, 123 A, or 123 ABC.
Northern Irish
Northern Irish registration marks have never changed over the years, and are now used across the UK and Northern Ireland for private number plates. Northern Irish registration marks will always contain I or Z, to represent the area of Northern Ireland in which they were first issued.

Purchasing a number plate as a gift is an effortless process.
The only information we would require is the name you wish for the registration plate to be registered in, and this is required to be the same as on the V5C (Log Book) of the vehicle.
This is known as the Nominee Name, and can be filled into the Nominee Name block at Checkout. If you are unsure of the name on the V5C or the person does not have a V5C, please leave this block blank.
You can also opt for our assisted transfer process. This means that the new owner can contact us upon receiving the gift, and we’ll take care of the rest. Just inform a team member at the time of purchase, and we’ll make a note on your account.
If you do opt for our assisted transfer, the new reg plate owner simply needs to screw on the new registration plate upon receipt, and we’ll look after the rest!

Step 1: Choose your Finance Option
Choose to finance your number plate anywhere between 2 and 48 months. We offer low credit rates no matter the duration of time you choose to finance over.
Step 2: Choose a Deposit Amount
Use our built-in slider to choose how big of a deposit you’d like to make. At Absolute Reg, we want to provide you with every opportunity to afford the number plate of your dreams, so we also offer the option of not paying any deposit at all.
Once the deposit amount is selected, the built in calculator will inform you of the amount of your monthly repayments.
For full transparency, the built-in calculator also shows you the Total Repayable and the Amount of Credit, helping you make the most informed decision possible!
3. Can I pay the DVLA Transfer Fee at a Later Date?
No, the DVLA transfer fee is payable at the point of purchase. If you do not transfer the number plate immediately this fee is already paid for when you are ready to complete the transfer process.
