About Suffix Registrations
The suffix style registration plates ran from 1963 to 1982, using a letter at the end of the registration plate as an age identifier. Registrations ending in an A represented 1963, and registrations ending in a Y represented 1982. As with Prefix registration marks, the DVLA did not issue age identifiers for certain letters due to their close resemblance to letters (these are I, O, Q, U and Z).
Suffix registration numbers were issued before the launch of prefix number plates, and consist of 1, 2 or 3 letters followed by again 1,2 or 3 numbers finishing the registration mark with a letter indentifying the year . Some great suffix personalised number plates include MAT 3S, J0N 35Y, and PAT 125B. Due to the nature of the suffix registration, the combinations are endless.
Suffix number plates are great for personal use, a gift or even an investment. Over the years, the worth of suffix registrations plates has increased dramatically, making them a great purchase for all!
